Eric Brock, AIA, Principal

Eric Brock is co-founder of Brock Hudgins Architects, an Atlanta based Architecture firm he established with long-time colleague Ben Hudgins. Prior to establishing Brock Hudgins Architects, Eric was the Director of the Housing & Mixed-Use Studio for 11 years at Lord Aeck Sargent; a practice he established upon the acquisition of Brock Green Architects and Planners, his award-winning Atlanta-based architecture firm co-founded with David Green in 1994. Before forming Brock Green, he worked for five years with two other Atlanta architecture firms.

Eric has more than 26 years of experience working on high-density urban residential and mixed-use projects.  Eric’s projects have received over 30 design awards from organizations such as the Georgia and Atlanta chapters of the American Institute of Architects, the South Atlantic Region of the American Institute of Architects, the American Society of Interior Designers, the Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation and the Atlanta Urban Design Commission. Among them a 2003 Merit Award from the American Institute of Architects South Atlantic Region for MidCity Lofts, a loft condominium project with street-level retail space in Midtown Atlanta. For their work on MidCity Lofts and other projects, he and former partner David Green were honored by the American Institute of Architects Atlanta chapter with the 2002 Emerging Voices Award, presented to architects under 40 and the 2003 Silver Medal Award, presented to a firm who has sustained outstanding performance evidenced by a consistently high level of design quality.

Eric has an excellent grasp of cost and market issues, as well as issues pertaining to design in an urban context.  At Brock Hudgins Architects, he and his partner Ben Hudgins collaborate on project designs from initial conception through construction. They are currently working on several significant urban residential mixed-use projects in Midtown and other in-town Atlanta neighborhoods.

Eric attended the University of Pennsylvania, where he earned his master’s degree in architecture, and the Georgia Institute of Technology, from which he received a bachelor’s degree in architecture.

Eric is a member of the American Institute of Architects and is a former Board Chair of the architecture and design firm Lord Aeck Sargent, where he was a principal, shareholder and board member for 11 years and The Schenck School, a school dedicated to developing a solid educational foundation for students with dyslexia, where he was a parent or board member for 12 years.
